It’s sort of saddening to me how the more Nintendo tries to make things better, the more I wish to go back to the SNES to play older games.

@OMG! Ponies!: I remember going to FAO Schwartz years back and seeing one of those Virtual Boys sitting around. I’m pretty sure not a single unit left the shelves.

the first DS was like what? 33MHz? if it beats the Wii i’ll be surprised. when you’re talking about beating 3×3.0GHz and 9×3.0GHz you’re just kidding yourself

Yeah right! The DS was (at best) on par with the N64. So, judging by the underpower-ness of their offerings, it should be clear that the 3DS will NOT even exceed Wii’s (pretty mediocre) graphics power.

Yeah right. Nintendo building hulking powerhouse machines? And portable ones at that? It’s as if Intel would suddenly start cranking out integrated graphics that actually does something.

They always bring up these rumors about Nintendo stuff. But, it never pans out.

Playing “Cooking Mama” in 3D would be intense.

Will it feature migraine-inducing, retina-searing graphics like a certain other Nintendo portable from history?

@icamp: The PS3 and the 360 both are graphic intensive games, the 3DS isn’t..but let’s wait for the iPhone 4G, since it is rumored to have 1GHz.

I’m just not buying it. No way are they putting a processor in a handheld that would compare to the “Cell”.

I really doubt this. Why would they make an underpowered console, then an all powerful handheld?

It is quick due to the crippled games it has.

I have no doubt that in rendering a mario model, the 3DS can run about as fast as a Wii in Super Mario Galaxy 2. That’s not exactly a useful comparison, though.

    welcome to marketing.

I don’t care for new Nintendo DSs any more. I bought the DSi after 4 years of the original and hoped that it would be the newest until something completely new. This is just getting silly. They should at least scrap the ‘DS’ name.

While hopeful, I think it’s a bit much to expect, especially coming from Nintendo.

Sure, the tech in a 360 is fairly old by now, but I haven’t seen anything demonstrated that’s been close to that level on a handheld, and at least one reason is that it would have a battery life of 10 minutes, and get hotter than a MBP at full clock during that time.

Yes, it could sanitize water. There, I said it.

If they are talking clock speed; so what? It wouldn’t be surprising at all to see a cheap mobile processor like a Snapdragon running at high clock rate…but that doesn’t exactly make it the equal of a PS3 or X360, does it?
