I bought this card to upgrade my old Dell Dimension 2350 so I could use it as a makeshift HTPC. The card supposes to support the HDTV output via the cable included with the card…
Now the punchline:
THE SUPPLIED CABLE CANNOT BE PLUGGED INTO THE CARD!
The cable has 8-pins male connector needed for the composite video output, the card itself has only 4-pins female socket, old style S-video. So the cable is useless and if your TV has only the composite input – you are screwed…
Luckily for me, my TV has the HDMI input, so I am still able to connect the PC to the TV using DVI-to-HDMI cable. Whether it affects the video quality remains to be seen. In theory should be ok, I will investigate.
But I still have a question:
What the hell PNY is doing by stuffing two incompatible hardware pieces into the same box?
Some other thoughts. Another very established online store sells the same card (same model number), which looks slightly different on their photos. Maybe they have in stock a strain of this card which does not suffer from this unexplainable defect…

Put the card in, loaded the drivers, and it works fine. I can now turn the graphics on Windows 7 all the way up with no problem. It’s not meant for hard-core gaming, but it’s a great card for the price.

I had to give this review a 1 because the product, although carefully matched to the bus type in my Dell 3000 PC, did not fit. I spent an hour carefully trying to fit this product into the PCI slot on my computer, but it clearly (and barely) would not fit. I called the manufacturer and they said that sometimes you get one that for some reason will not go in, and to order another one. Perhaps it’s an issue with the motherboard (Dell 0R8060) that others have experienced also. Would appreciate any helpful feedback.

It could have been a defective card, but I am not sure, because it could have been my computer too. I followed the best practices that I could gather from the Web. I first disabled the current onboard device. Then, I turned off the computer to install the card. Upon restart, I changed the BIOS to auto-detect. Afterwards however, the computer would not install the drivers in the CD, because it still was detecting the onboard GPU. After a few more attempts, I decided to return the card.

This card is excellent for hardware acceleration using many supported media players (i.e. VLC, or Media Player Classic – Homecinema, XBMC Live.)
If you don’t want to buy a new computer for your high definition media viewing this card is for you. It allows you to play blu-ray @ full 1080p with very low CPU consumption. I have a pentium 4 2.4 ghz processor and when I play 1080p movies either using Media Player Classic – Home Cinema or XBMC Live, my cpu usage doesn’t go over 10-12%. This is awesome because I didn’t have to go out and spend 500+ on a new computer to allow me to watch the latest HD movies.
Since this card is standard PCI, most computers should come equipped with at least one on board. I want to test it out on an older pc with a lower processor to see how this card handles 1080p.
Overall an excellent card and it does what I bought it to do…..Play 1080p movies with little to no cpu consumption because of the hardware acceleration. I don’t plan to game on this card and I wouldn’t even try because I wouldn’t consider this to be a gaming card.
